Business Registration in Benoni: Company, Tax and Compliance Registrations in One Place

Starting or growing a business in South Africa means registering with several different authorities, each with its own forms, checks and deadlines. A mismatched name, a wrong ID number or a missing tax number can send an application back, and cost you weeks.

At Accountants On Point, one of the trusted accountants in Benoni, we handle seven key registrations for businesses across Benoni and the East Rand. We check your details first, submit correctly, and follow up until it's done. Most of it is handled online, so you don't need to visit an office.

What Each Registration Is For

1
Register your company

Choose your structure and register with the CIPC. You'll need the company first for everything below.

2
Get your tax affairs in place

Your business needs a SARS tax number and compliant status. Our tax services can set this up.

3
Open a business bank account

Most registrations verify your bank details, and the account name must match your registered name exactly.

4
Register for VAT if you need to

It's compulsory once your taxable supplies pass the threshold, and optional below that.

5
Register as an employer if you hire

PAYE, UIF and COIDA apply once you have staff. See our payroll services.

6
Register for tenders if you'll supply government

CSD registration, B-BBEE status and, for contractors, CIDB grading.

Frequently Asked Questions About Business Registration

Which registrations does a new business need?
Most new businesses start with company registration and a tax number. After that it depends on what you do: VAT if you pass the threshold, PAYE, UIF and COIDA if you employ people, and CSD or CIDB if you supply government.
How long does registration take?
It varies by authority and by how accurate your details are. Correct, matching information is the biggest factor. We give you an estimate for each registration when you book.
Can you register everything without me visiting your office?
Yes. Most registrations are done online. We'll tell you exactly which documents to send and when a signature or certified copy is needed.
What's the difference between PAYE, UIF, SDL and COIDA?
PAYE is employee income tax collected through payroll. UIF is unemployment insurance contributed by you and your staff. SDL is a skills levy for larger payrolls. COIDA covers injuries at work through the Compensation Fund. Employers often need several at once.
Do I need to register for VAT?
Registration is compulsory above R2.3 million in taxable supplies over 12 months, and voluntary from R120,000. Registering voluntarily lets you claim input VAT but adds admin, so we check your situation first.
I already have a company. Can you register the rest?
Yes. You can start from any service above, whether that's payroll registrations for your first hire or a CSD profile for a tender.
