What is the Central Supplier Database?

Is CSD registration free?

Yes. National Treasury does not charge to register. You can do it yourself, or pay us R600 to prepare and submit it correctly and follow up on verification.

How long does it take?

Your supplier number is often issued within a few days. Bank and tax verification are the slow parts, and problems with either can add days or weeks. Accurate details up front avoid delays.

Which documents do I need?

ID numbers, your CIPC number if you have one, your SARS tax reference number, a bank account and confirmation letter in the registered name, and a B-BBEE certificate or affidavit. See the checklist above.

Does CSD registration expire?

The registration doesn't need annual renewal, but the tax, banking and B-BBEE information on it is checked. If your tax status or B-BBEE certificate lapses, your profile can become non-compliant and you may lose tenders.

Can a sole proprietor register?

Yes. Companies, close corporations, trusts, sole proprietors and other entity types can register. The details you need vary slightly by type, so ask us if you're unsure.
